FAQ's

What is Ovarium?

Ovarium Conception cups are soft, medical-grade silicone cups that sit inside your vagina to keep sperm inside your vaginal canal for up to 12 hours. This significantly increases the amount of time the sperm is close to your cervix after sex, giving sperm the maximum amount of time possible to reach the egg and make a baby.

What are Ovarium conception cups made out of?

Ovarium Conception cups are made out of medical grade silicone. Our cups are BPA-free, hormone-free and latex-free.

How is Ovarium different from a menstrual cup or disc?

Ovarium Conception cups were designed and patented by the company's founder, who is a licensed nurse practitioner, specifically for the purposes of conception and holding sperm inside the vaginal cavity while trying to get pregnant. Menstrual cups are not designed or patented to hold sperm like Ovarium is.

When do I put in Ovarium?

Insert Ovarium immediately following semen entering the vagina from sex - while you are still laying down. This will trap the maximum amount of sperm in the vagina before it leaks out once you sit up or stand. You can use Ovarium every time you have sex throughout the month, but it will be most effective while you are ovulating.

Is Ovarium hard to get in and out?

Ovarium is simple and easy to use, but there can be a learning curve if you are not familiar with your body. Ovarium must be inserted and pushed back as far as you can in your vaginal canal - father than a tampon or menstrual cup. We recommend you practice inserting and removing Ovarium while you are not ovulating so when the time comes, you feel totally comfortable using it.

How long can I wear Ovarium?

Ovarium Conception cups are designed to be worn for up to 12 hours at a time, keeping sperm from leaking out of your vagina and allowing your body maximum time for the sperm to reach the egg. This also allows you the freedom and flexibility to get on with your day, without having to lay in bed with your legs in the air. We recommend you leave Ovarium in for a minimum of 4 hours.

Can wearing Ovarium cause an infection?

Do not use Ovarium if you have an active infection. like a UTI, yeast infection or an STD.

Otherwise, sperm can live in the vagina for several days naturally, but the majority of sperm leaks out of the vagina once you sit or stand following intercourse. Using Ovarium for up to 12 hours at a time to keep sperm in the vagina is just as safe as using a tampon or menstrual cup. Be sure to sanitize your Ovarium conception cup before use and follow our detailed instructions.

What size Ovarium should I use?

We include two cups in our package so that you can choose the most comfortable fit for you. Start by practicing with with small/medium cup. If it will not stay in place or falls out, try switching to the medium/large cup.

Note: the medium/large cup may fit and stay in better if you have wider hips, have had previous children or are plus-sized.

Can I pee and poop with Ovarium inside me?

Yes! Because our cups sit up inside your vagina below your cervix , you do not need to remove it to urinate or have a bowel movement.

Is there anything I cannot do while wearing Ovarium?

Once your Ovarium Conception cup is inside you, you cannot have sex or stick anything else inside your vagina. You CAN however, do ALL of your other daily activities without restrictions!!

Does Ovarium hurt to wear?

No. Our soft silicone cup shapes itself to the walls of your vagina. Once it is properly inserted behind your public bone, you should barely be able to feel it. Mild cramping may occur as your body gets used to the cup.

How do I clean and sanitize Ovarium?

Clean and sanitize Ovarium by boiling it in water for 3 minutes before and after using. Do not let the Ovarium cup touch the bottom of the pan because it may cause the silicone to melt- try holding it in the boiling water with a whisk or tongs. Once it is dry and cooled, your Ovarium is ready to use!

Have any studies been done?

A study done at Vanderbilt University Medical Center using couples with infertility for 1-11 years found that using a conception cup device like Ovarium led to a 53% pregnancy rate overall.

The study identified the conception cup method as simple, inexpensive, without significant discomfort and can be carried out at-home conveniently and privately.

Who should not use Ovarium?

Do not use Ovarium conception cups if you: are pregnant, post-partum, have a history of pelvic organ prolapse, have an active infection (yeast, UTI, STI, etc.), or are allergic to silicone.

Will Ovarium work if my tubes are tied or if my partner has a vasectomy?

Unfortunately, no. These procedures prevent the sperm and egg from physically being able to meet.
